UGC, in an offer to improve the accreditation capacity, has chosen to enable more accreditation organisations to take up the movement of giving recognition to Higher Education Institutes. In this reference, UGC has additionally told the University Grants Commission (Recognition and Monitoring of Assessment and Accreditation Agencies) Regulations, 2018. The UGC will set up an Accreditation Advisory Council (AAC) for acknowledgment of Assessment and Accrediting Agencies (AAAs) which will involve 10 individuals who might prescribe AAAs to the commission for acknowledgment.

AAC will lay down norms and procedures for evaluation and accreditation of academic quality in HEI(s) or of the programme(s) including Technical Education Programs directed in that by AAAs.
