Safety of girls in education institutes is priority: SP Ola

NAGPUR: Rakesh Ola , the newly posted superintendent of police (SP), Nagpur Rural, on Thursday said cops would visit educational institutes for girls and young women to infuse confidence in them and raise awareness regarding sexual exploitation and harassment. “Mobile phone numbers of senior officers, including mine, would be made available to citizens. Women cops from every police station would be part of the police team visiting the schools and colleges, the IPS officer said.Ola, addressing his maiden press conference as SP, said he would ensure creation of a system for redressal of women’s grievances. The new SP also said he would be focusing on coordination with his counterparts in other districts like Wardha and Chandrapur to stop liquor smuggling, transportation of animals for slaughtering and also arms and weapons. “We will take stringent action if any cop is found having nexus with the racketeers,” he said.He also emphasized on converting information received from citizens into fruitful actions.
